When people think of self-care they usually think of ways to physically care for themselves. Physical self-care is important and should not be ignored. There is, however, another type of self-care that I would like us to discuss today and that is emotional self-care. This form of self-care is important because when a spouse who isn’t emotionally cared for comes to the marriage depleted instead of ready to give, the marriage can hit roadblocks. A marriage thrives when each spouse is seeking their own emotional self-care. So today, I’d like to offer you 3 ways that you can pay attention to and nurture your emotional self-care so that you’re more capable of bringing your best to your marriage. When you tend to your own emotions rather than lean solely on your husband for that support, you will have more emotional bandwidth to give to your marriage.
